Competitive intelligence,knowledge management and translation

In the last few months I had several opportunities to explore the relevance of competitive intelligence and knowledge management in the field of specialised translation. The intelligence tools save time and help in being more accurate while doing terminology search or setting up a substantial TM. As language professionals we have the advantage of using these tools in several languages.

I have already listed on my blogroll some of the blogs of professional translators, which serve as source of useful information regarding the usage of latest technologies. It is quite difficult for many among us to regularly keep up with latest developments.

The intelligence tools provide good solution to this problem. Of course the industries using various softwares have a different set of requirement than that of translators. In the beginning it is important to choose the right tool suitable for our profession. The choice seems to be quite wide in the market. There are two excellent blogs on economic intelligence and KM in general. I have listed them on my blogroll under the title IT Intelligence1 and 2.

From personal experience I can say that narrowed down precise knowledge source can to a very large extent cut down on the time period that we translators spend on searching a relevant and trustworthy source. Hope the two links would help fellow translators.
